Counselling

ABOUT MY PRACTICE

I am a Gestalt Counsellor and I work under the BACP ethical guidelines. My approach is to create an environment that feels safe and holding. I will listen attentively, empathically, offering reflection when needed. I work experientially incorporating creativity to support the counselling process. I work inclusively, humanistically and relationally meaning you and I work together in the here and now, focusing on what you are bringing and acknowledging all parts of you. This approach encompasses some of how I work as a Gestalt Counsellor.

GESTALT COUNSELLING

If you want to know more about the Gestalt approach, please follow the link which will provide you with a short overview

WHO I WORK WITH

Adults 18+ from a wide range of backgrounds, presenting issues which prevent living to full potential.

HOW I DELIVER THERAPY

Online, Face to Face, Walk and Talk

ONLINE via ZOOM

I am a certified Online Counsellor and a member of ACTO (Association for Counselling and Therapy Online). This means I have undertaken courses to work safely and competently online and continue to do so. If you wish to have counselling this way it may be useful to consider a few things like:

  • Do you feel comfortable using technology?
  • Is there a safe and private space which you can use each week without being interrupted or overheard?
  • Is your broadband speed stable enough, especially when using WiFi?
  • Do you have a desk or laptop you can use?

FACE-TO-FACE at The GESTALT CENTRE

I work with clients face-to-face in a therapy room. It may be useful to consider a few things like:

  • Do you feel comfortable being in a room face-to-face for counselling?
  • Do you notice any anxiety or fear when you consider the first question?
  • (Coronavirus and lockdown considerations) Do you feel it is important to wear a mask to undertake face-to-face sessions and for your counsellor to do so?
  • Are there any other considerations important for you to feel safe and comfortable in face-to-face counselling? It may be useful to make a list.

FACE-TO-FACE WALK and TALK

I can offer Walk and Talk Counselling, if you feel unsure, or have some fear or anxiety being in a therapy room. It may be useful to consider a few things like:

  • How do you feel about being in an open public space?
  • Do you feel an environment like a park, by the river or canal, might support you to feel more comfortable?
  • Considering how you may feel if you bump into someone you know, what might that be like?
  • Do you have any physical concerns that may prevent you from walking for a period of time?

The short list of considerations are to help you to think little about coming to counselling, and what method of counselling you may prefer.
